The world's largest weathervane in Montague, Michigan.

Big Weather Vane

Behind the legend of Whitehall artistry lies the tale of a unique craft inspired by the majestic shores and woodlands of Western Michigan. It was a master woodcarver's desire to reproduce and preserve his hand carved wood sculpture in metal, depicting the grace and essence of America's natural beauty. Fifty years later, Whitehall Products still offers you the same mastery of detail in each originally designed, carved and hand-cast product.

Each Whitehall Product begins with beautifully hand-drawn designs created by our own resident artisans. The designs are then hand-carved in wood by the industry's top carvers. Sand molds are created from the carvings and then molten metal is poured into the molds. After cooling, the mold is broken and the metal casting is removed. The molding sand is conditioned and reused over and over again. Each casting is cleaned carefully, machine-finished and finally painted with a weather-resistant finish.

A special alloy of aluminum has been chosen for the manufacture of all products made in Whitehall's modern foundry. Aluminum is rustproof and lightweight, yet durable and reasonably priced.
