State Birds

The State Bird database is an extra feature added by CMC to enhance the enjoyment and educational value of the Birds of America CD-ROM disc. For various reasons not all state birds were accounted for by John J. Audubon. These include the state birds of Hawaii, Arizona and New Mexico, which were not known to Audubon when his original works were published, as well as those of South Dakota, Delaware and Rhode Island, which have birds that are not wild birds native to North America as their state birds. Explanations of these particular birds are provided within their individual selections in this database.
