Estate Feeder - FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
We try to offer a comprehensive list of
answers and constantly update this page. If you don’t find the information you
seek, e-mail the designer and he’ll do his best to answer your question.
A Bird's Home
Do you sell the Estate to landscape architects and designers who
specify for institutional and public space use?
We provide products and design services to landscape
designers, architects, and purchasing departments in such institutions as zoos,
parks, golf courses and resort hotels. Please e-mail us for more
information. -- back to top --
Do you ship to Canada and Overseas?
We ship regularly to Canada and over the years have sold
to customers on all five continents world-wide. If you purchase from outside the
US, please adjust the purchase price for the appropriate exchange rate to US
dollars at the time of your purchase. All foreign orders are subject to freight
costs and any taxes, fees and duties, etc. If you have a stateside address, we
can ship there, and you can arrange for forwarding to your location. -- back to top --
|
Does the Estate come with it’s own pole and
base?
Yes, every Estate ships
complete with the feed barrel, the roof, the steel 8-foot stanchion and
the cast iron base. You can choose to use the freestanding base without
any permanent installation, and move the feeder seasonally as you wish. In
the case of installing the Estate on a hillside, or in a public space
where security is a concern, the base should be mounted in concrete. Full
instructions are included. -- back to top
--
What is the Warranty on the Estate
? We warranty the Estate for five years. If
any component fails during that time, we will replace it for free. -- back to top --
How is the Estate Shipped?
The Estate is shipped by UPS ground in five boxes.
For overseas delivery the feeder is shipped by Air. -- back to top --

How much assembly is required when I get my
Estate?
The Estate arrives in five boxes. Following
the printed instructions, you only need to join the five main components and
install the counterweight. It takes about a half an hour to complete the
task. -- back to top --
How much does the Estate Weigh
? Empty of feed, the Estate weights about 150
pounds. -- back to top --
Is there any reason the Estate will ever wear
out?
The Estate is an heirloom quality product that
should last for generations with simple maintenance like occasionally spraying
the counterbalance cable pulleys with a little lubricant. Because the entire
feeder is clad in copper, there is no reason why it shouldn’t last a very long
time. In the event of accidental damage, components are available. -- back to top --
If I order an Estate do you guarantee my
satisfaction?
Yes. If for any reason you are not
thrilled with the quality and the design of the Estate, you can return it within
30 days of your purchase for a full refund including shipping to you. We only
ask that you pack the feeder carefully in the original packaging, and contact us
to expect the return before you hand it over to UPS. You are responsible for the
return shipping charges. -- back to
top --
Is the Estate truly Squirrel Proof?
Yes. Squirrels cannot transcend the built-in squirrel guard
at the feed barrels bottom. In the case that there is an overhanging branch that
the squirrels can jump from onto the feeder, the squirrels cannot damage it
because of the cast metal seed ports and the copper cladding on all exposed
surfaces. -- back to top --
|

|
How durable is the
copper?
We use semi-hard cold rolled roofing copper
to clad the feeder. This is the same material used on roofs of historic
buildings and ornamental cupolas that have been in use for over 100
years. -- back to top
--
If I buy the polished copper
Estate will it patina over time?
Eventually,
all copper will take on the patina of age. If you are near the seaside it
will accelerate this natural process. If you are not near the shore and
like the antique verdigris look, we recommend you opt for the
pre-treatment where we treat the feeder with a mild acid to bring out the
natural tones. The charge for this service is $50. -- back to top --
|
How much seed does it hold?
The Estate is the largest capacity feeder on the market. It
has four galvanized chambers that hold a total of 30-40 pounds of seed depending
on the type you are using. In most cases, filling is at most a weekly chore.
This makes the feeder particularly popular for weekend homes, so you can
continue to provide a dependable supply of seed when you are back at work during
the weekdays. -- back to top --

The Registry of Nature Habitats - Mission
Statement
The Registry of Nature Habitats is
dedicated to the preservation of land that, over time, has been a
site and home for complex ecosystems. The Registry advocates
preservation of these lands and its inhabitants, environmental
education for community individuals and groups, and nurturing of
these lands through restoration in order to conserve its
natural resources for future generations.
Preserve
The Registry of Nature
Habitats manages critical habitat, consisting of wetland,
lowland, upland, forest and stream habitat, providing a home
to wildlife species and plant species. As part of
the mission to preserve these lands and its inhabitants,
the Registry will continue to contract with owners
of ecologically sensitive land as it becomes
available.
Educate
The Registry of Nature Habitats is
a "teaching ground," able to provide hands-on, interpretive learning
experiences in areas such as ecology, botany, wildlife science, and
geology, as well as the arts and humanities. The
educational mission of The Registry of Nature Habitats is
to teach an understanding and appreciaton of the environment,
the invaluable lesson of land stewardship of our natural resources,
and to expand the general knowledge of this habitat through
scientific research. This will be accomplished through a
year-round experiential, interactive approach, along
with onsite and outreach activities including providing
educational material both on this website, on media and through
educational seminars. An on-site facility is in the
design phase, which will house classrooms and an administrative
space.
Nurture
Through several restoration
projects, including the rebuilding of stream corridors,
reintroducing native flora, and permitting only low-impact
activities, the Registry is nurturing much land back to
its natural state, undoing the damage of hundreds of
years. The Registry of Nature
Habitats restoration plan, developed with public and private
partnerships and with local community support, will increase
the land's value, enhance wildlife habitat, improve water
quality, and preserve the integrity of the land's
bio-diversity. Renewable
Energy
Promote the use of
renewable and efficient energy technologies through education,
training, workforce development, research, and project facilitation.
The Registry supports clean energy development and energy
conservation as the means to protect the environment, enhance
public health, and save our nature
habitats.
Conservation
We seek to educate people and provide innovative
solutions that will help build a clean, more efficient world, by
reducing energy consumption in a prudent way that does not
threaten the natural balance that supports all
life.
