• Cedar is a natural deterrent to fleas, ticks and termites
• Western Red Cedar does not require painting.
• Cedar turns grey with age. However, to preserve the rich red color simply spray or paint the exterior with Thompson's Wood Protector, or a clear stain.
• Despite what seems to be the ever increasing cost, Red Cedar is our wood of preference as it provides a naturally weather resistant material that is attractive, machinable, and should last a long time with little maintenance other than cleaning the box as required after the nest has been abandoned by the fledglings.
• Over the years we have developed a box style that presents all the basic elements required by the nesting bluebirds and wrens and use the minimum amount of natural resources.
